Nickel and Dime: The Backyard Edition

When I was living in my tiny, concrete loft apartment in downtown Calgary, I used to fantasize about having a backyard someday. I imagined I'd have a couple of Muskoka chairs with some Tibetan prayer flags blowing in the breeze. I would read the paper and drink coffee outside on weekends and enjoy the lovely weather. Well, this weekend my dream was finally realized. Here's another edition of Nickel and Dime!

My mother-in-law gave us this quilt. She's such an amazing quilter and an awesome lady to boot! It was in the local quilt show last week. We love the 1980s colours and the fact that there is black in the design. We needed some dowel to hang it up on a wall in our dining room. Dowel ($6) hooks ($2) — Home Depot.

Ah, yes. I feel like I'm achieving inner peace already. We need all the good vibes we can get. Tibetan Prayer Flags ($24.99) — Red Earth.

Some earrings for me also found at Red Earth ($14).  I also bought my niece some earrings at the same shop for her birthday ($18)

Some lovely Muskoka chairs — you can see the coffee and newspaper has already been established as a weekend routine and we haven't even varnished them yet. Both chairs were $69.00 each. Protective Spray $9.99.

I also spent $37.95 on groceries and had to get some things at the drug store. I got the following — all boring stuff, so I didn't bother taking any photos. Chris said "Does anyone need to see photographic evidence of bar soap?" I had to agree.

Jergen's Bar Soap — $3.99
Quo Face Powder — $19.00
Carmex Cherry Lip Balm with SPF 15 — $3.99
Toilet Paper — $4.00
Maple Cookies — $2.99
Globe and Mail Weekend Edition — $3
Cheezees — $3
Muslin strips — $3.99
