nice weekend so far!

Just sitting in the backyard and looking up at the gorgeous blue sky. This has been a really nice (if busy) weekend. I went to my niece's 15th birthday on the weekend and she loved the Amy Butler Birdie Totebag I made her. I was a little nervous giving her a homemade gift. You never know if they'll like it or just assume you cheaped-out on buying them a "real" present. But oh no, my highly evolved and very cool niece loved it and said it was her favourite present. It made me feel so great — giving her something I made and having her love it. Such a great feeling and one of the perks of making things for people you love. Ate a lot of birthday cake (my sister-in-law makes the best boiled icing EVER — I could eat it straight-up). Did some shopping for the backyard (see below) and loads of yardwork. Still clearing things out and putting new earth on some really sketchy patches. I'm heading out to the cottage for a little bit as soon as I finish typing this post. And done. Have a great rest of the weekend!
